Turning the Wheel of Dharma at Changlimithang

Just as the Lord Buddha,

about 2500 years ago,

Gave the first sermon

on the Four Noble Truths

To his five disciples at Sarnath

In Varanasi,

Just as the Lord Buddha,

Under the patronage of

Dharma King Zugchen Nyingpo,

Imparted his profound teachings on Heart Sutra

To thousands sacred sangha and lay followers,

Gathered at the Vulture Peak mountain,

The assemblage of the supreme holders

of all major traditions and lineages,

And thousands of sacred sangha and laymen,

Under the patronage of great Dharma King,

Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk,

Gathered at Changlimithang, in 2025,

And turn the Wheel of Dharma.

Just as the Lord Buddha,

Under the patronage of

King Dawa Zangpo of the sacred realm of Shambala,

Bestowed the first Kalachakra empowerment,

The supreme Lord, Je Khenpo Jigme Cheodra,

Under the patronage of

The great Bodhisattva King of Bhutan,

Conferred the empowerment of Kalachakra,

Upon thousands of sacred sangha and lay practitioners,

Gathered at Changlimithang.

Thus, the radiant sun of

The Buddha’s sacred teachings shone once again.

May the Buddha Dharma flourish and

Rise higher and higher, and further and further.

A Trip That Drifts into the Past

One autumn morning, we embarked on a trip to Dungkar;

The ancestral home of the Wangchuck Dynasty.

From the gentle lowlands to the rugged highlands,

Following the Kurichhu river, that flows in the sweeping curve,

The road stretches ahead, so we drove along it.

Then, up and up, we ascend along the winding road -

Rising through the whispering pinewoods.

At the top, we entered into the grove of deciduous trees.

Then it goes deep into the dense foliage overhead,

Where the sunlight struggle to pierce through,

Allowing cold air to slip through to the skin.

Then we reached at Lakor, that gives a way to the sky,

Where prayer flags danced, flinging their colours in air,

On the hilltop afar, Rinchen Bumpa rose,

which absorbed our eyes spellbound.

At the far end, we emerged from the thick woods,

And the warmth rays of the Sun welcome us

To the magnificent palace of Jigme Namgyel.

Where relics, artifacts and manuscripts awaited our gaze.

Next, we continued journey to the serene Khawchung Goenpa,

Uphill we climbed, along the ridge that resembled

the nose of a sleeping elephant,

Perched atop the hill, stood the grand seat of Kuenga Wangpo,

And blessed are we by the sacred relics of Terton Pema Lingpa.

Then, downhill, we descended to the tableland, Khawtangla,

And beheld by the view of Tshegay Remo where Pema Lingpa

revealed a treasure of Chenrigzee.

Thus, with that, our excursion drew to a graceful end.
