Be the change agent

Some of our students are looking for better school in the country. But what is better there? School cannot be the best unless the people living in school are best. Changing place doesn’t change you until you change yourself because Sonam here will be Sonam there too. An old adage saying says, “It takes village to raise a child.” That is absolute truth. The parents alone cannot raise a child. A family alone cannot raise a child. But it takes society to raise a child. What does it mean? It means adults like you and I must play a critical role in bringing them up as human being. Adults are powerful in the society. We are influential.

Our conduct, behavior and mindsets have so much bearing impact on youth. They don’t do what we tell them to do, but they do what we do. They become who adults are. They become what society is. We must be what we want from out of them.  Our mere presence in society can influence our younger brothers and sisters.  We should not give them impression that drinking alcohol in public is good enough, cheating and lying is all right and disrespecting social norms and disbelieving values are acceptable. We are influenced by the world. We are exposed to any sort of change in other world. And we try to be someone else. But instead of trying to be someone else, why don’t we just be ourselves. We have our own identity. Either being ourselves or someone else, our behaviours are replicated in youth.

You might have experienced stress, anxiety and depression as a result of exposure to divorce, alcoholism and violence at your home in some point of your life.  But when you face such circumstances, be firm and believe in yourself that it is up to you whether to get yourself drawn into such circumstance or come out of that circumstance. Do not let yourself change by circumstance but you must change the circumstance. The choice is yours. You have right to decision making. You are the game changer. Do not let your senses be numbed by the power of drugs. Do what you are passionate about.

People will help you but only when you don’t have problem. So when you suffer, nobody will come to you and take you by holding your hands. You will suffer alone. The whole world does not care at that time unless you get up on your feet and believe in yourself that you can do it. Never let the sense of defeat be empowered over you. It doesn’t matter how many times you break down due to failures but, what you need to understand is life is not an ideal for anyone. All have bitter stories to narrate behind their success. Important thing is you must navigate through the challenges by drilling with positive energy. Nothing can stop you.

We demand change so much in the society. We complain for what does not suit us. The very evolution of human being teaches us a lot. We evolved into current level of being because we have undergone many changes within our body and mind. Our body’s physics, chemistry and biology change daily in order to adapt to the changing environment and survive. Similarly, instead of demanding change, we must change ourselves to best suited in any kind of society. We go outcry in public demanding change in administration of company, laws, rules and functions.  But how many of us are willing to change? Sadly, we refuse to change ourselves.  The toughest of all changes is to change oneself. We are so much used to doing things in our own way because it seems very convenient but resist to embrace change. Therefore, if we want to survive we must adapt to the changing environment.
